significantly reduce the amount of spending cuts to DHS proposed by the Sequestration Transparency Act of 2012.

Created by R.P. on March 19, 2013

The aim of this petition is to reduce the amount of spending cuts to the Department of Homeland Security as set fourth by the Sequestration Transparency Act of 2012. Due to the sequestration, DHS will lose about $3.2 billion from its fiscal 2013 budget between now and Sept. 30.Most of the department's components will receive 5% cuts however due to cuts over the next 7 months, DHS components will likely experience them at greater amounts.DHS says the sequester will cause long lines at airport security checkpoints to reduced staffing on the southern border. If carried out over the next decade as designed, this represents only 2 percent of the federal budget. Federal agents will realize a dramatic decrease in pay. Exempt of course are the salaries of federal lawmakers and the President.
