We petition for a fair and simple tax code. Eliminate all deductions, exemptions, and entitlements in the tax code for a period of three years. This is a time of severe need and every American would be affected. Use the hiatus to measure the actual effect on the economy while collecting much more income to balance the budget.
For three years eliminate all the social welfare (earned income credit etc) while also eliminating all the deductions and loopholes which people use to avoid paying their fair share. Since it would be temporary, objections would be solely based on personal profiteering from the tax code rather than bearing their burden as American Citizens to step up in this time of need.
