Completing individual tax returns are very complex and riddled with vague complex deductions. The goal of all tax accountants is to lower the amount paid. This requires meticulous record keeping a hard decisions on what is applicable at tax time.
It is proposed in this petition to drastically lower the income tax rate to 10% with no deductions except to charities at a certain cap.
Such a move would simplify the life of all Americans and allow them to do their taxes in less than an hour. The goal would be that most americans under $200,000 income would not pay any more that the do under the current tax code. The difference is that there is virtually no record keeping and your are done in less than an hour!
