On June 11, 2016, 22 year old Christina Grimmie was shot and killed at her own show in Orlando, Florida at the Plaza Live Theater. The gunman had 2 handguns, 2 extra magazines of ammunition, and a hunting knife. The security at the venue were unarmed, and only checked people entering the venue's handbags. This is not nearly enough. We believe venues should be required to have armed security members, and metal detectors at the door. People should have to take off their jackets, and be patted down if need be. At least one police officer should also possibly be present at venues to handle any situations that may arise. Federal laws need to be made to prevent something like this from ever happening again. To not only protect performers lives, but the lives of fans attending as well.
