Social Security and Medicare are benefits we paid into. These benefits are what helps us to maintain our livelihood after retirement. These benefits are not entitlements. They have nothing to do with the budget crisis we are facing. Mr. President, you campaigned that you would not take away these benefits nor would you endanger us of losing our benefits. We voted for you because we believed that you would not sell us out. We are counting on you to uphold your commitment. Our Social Security and Medicare benefits should not be included as a bargain, that you and congress are battling.
