The basic rights and promises of our forefathers have been distorted by the lawyers who eventually run for public office and protect their own agendas and positions. The basic values of right and wrong have been perverted into gray areas and technicalities to grant freedom to the guilty. Meanwhile the innocent are left without representation due to financial reasons unless a lawyer can profit by sharing the awarded compensation. The only people who profit from the present legal system is the lawyers. This system stays in place because most politicians have legal backgrounds and would never pass legislation that would harm their own interests. The government has more duty to provide justice than medical care.
