We have a very serious student loan debt crisis, with severe consequences if we don't DO SOMETHING!!
1. Allow for limited filing of bankruptcy for student loans for people unable to work in related field, limited or no ability to work due to chronic illness of self or spouse/partner
2. Limit the amount of interest that can be charged on student loans to 2% with a cap on the total amount of interest money that can be accrued in ones lifetime to 25k.
Just like with the banking industry giving out faulty house loans, there are faulty high risk loans for student loans - often with no way to resolve them. If we limit the amount of money that can be made from these loans, it will force the lending institutions to limit funding, forcing schools to stop gouging us. Our economy needs this!!
