Something we can all agree on: Ban publication of mass shooters' names

Created by R.N. on December 14, 2012

- The FCC has the power to regulate nationwide media
- It is commonplace for media to suppress names from stories under certain circumstances, for example rape victims or minors accused of crimes.
- Streaking at public events was curtailed by denying streakers the momentary fame they sought.
- Attaining infamy is undoubtedly a goal of those who commit mass shootings

Therefore, we request that President Obama direct the FCC to immediately place the names of mass shooters into the same category.

This is a time for our country to act together on a goal we can reach quickly. Regardless of party, no one is served by glorifying these mass murderers, making them instant celebrities; in effect, rewarding them for their crimes.
