President Obama,
I'm a teacher, and I am proposing SOS, a tentative requirement for all U.S. schools. The suggestions may not all seem plausible, but they're possible. Lives are worth it.
Deadbolt: There must be a deadbolt on all classroom doors that can be locked from the inside only. Teachers should be able to lock it quickly and barricade the door instead of searching for keys.
Panic button: Banks are more secure than our schools. The front office staff must have access to a panic button to receive an immediate police response, like banks do.
Outdoor surveillance: There must be cameras on entrances with a live feed displayed in the front office.
Defense: Staff should have access to taser guns to disable intruders.
