Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych won election on a pro-Western and pro-liberty platform. Knuckling under to Russian threats, Yanukovych has betrayed his own people, who now suffer under the brutality of his jack-booted police force. President Obama should use the power of his office to call for Yanukovych to step down and for new elections to be held as soon as possible.
