We petition the Obama administration to abandon the current voting system used in the United States of America, and for the adoption of a Single Transferable Vote as a new voting system for elections.
In order for a nation to sustain a stable and healthy democracy it is crucial that elections allow for even small minorities to have the ability to achieve positions in the government. Thus the voting system of a country must be one that encourages people to vote for parties other than those parties which are the largest or most popular without feeling as if their vote will be wasted and not make a difference. Single Transferable Vote does just that.
