In 2012, the Obama/Biden ticket garnered 65,907,213 votes. Romney/Ryan amassed 60,931,767.
By contrast, John Boehner ran un-opposed in Ohio's 8th district and was re-elected by 246,378 of his constituents. He was then re-elected Speaker of the House by 220 House Republicans, meaning that a total of 246,598 people elevated him to the third most powerful position in the U.S. government.
We, the undersigned, ask the administration to introduce legislation amending the Constitution to allow for the losing candidates of a presidential/vice presidential election to assume the Office of Speaker of the House of Representatives and president pro tempore of the Senate, respectively, only in the event that their party gains or retains control of the house of Congress they would be entering into.
