It has been over one hundred years since we have redefined what percentage of our lives is work and how much is play. If society were to adopt this proposal, the amount of work would not change, but the amount of play would.
Corporations and state governments that have adopted this proposal have all seen gains in productivity and overall morale. The benefits are numerous and the counter arguments weak. There would be less pollution in the air from the reduction in commuting, more time spent with families and friends, more time for all the things that make life worth living.
American society is always in a big hurry with no final destination in mind. The way we spend our time should reflect this reality. Giving ourselves more time to enjoy living in America is a start.
