The Electoral College system of vote counting was created in times where counting single votes quickly was impractical. In this age we can easily count and tabulate individual votes. There is much to be gained in eliminating the "red state/blue state" phenomenon that the Electoral College creates.
It will provide incentives for all Americans to participate in the election process no matter what state they live in.
It will make good on the promise of equality in our electoral process.
It will increase the number of citizens that participate in voting.
