The FBI under Director Comey has allowed numerous leaks that are clearly partisan during the last 60 days leading up to the election. Director Comey has himself made statements which are beyond the role of the FBI and contain partisan judgments.
These actions have had immense consequence for our democracy and destroyed the public's faith in the FBI. It is impossible for either the Justice Department or the FBI to investigate itself in this case; only a special prosecutor has the change to restore the faith of the American people in the FBI as an independent investigative body.
