While our Nation has been focusing and debating on how to deal with illegal immigration, the issue of how to reform legal immigration has been ignored. The legal process of being granted permanent residency and citizenship is a long and tedious path that has frustrated legal immigrants into just returning back to their own country.
Speeding up the immigration process for all legal immigrants would overwhelm our bureaucracy, but speeding up the process for highly skilled immigrants, such as those with degrees in math, science, management, etc will help our nation. These highly skilled immigrants would boost our economy by starting business, creating jobs, and bringing their experiences to the work place. A more educated workforce will help our country prosper.
