Sponsor an amendment limiting the effect of law to fifty years.

Created by L.L. on February 22, 2013

Draft and sponsor a 28th amendment to the Constitution, limiting the effect of statutory law to a duration of sixty years, or in the case of existing statutes, sixty years from the date of this amendment's enactment.

Society is evolving; and in order to benefit from rapidly accelerating technological and cultural progress, our government will need to either (a) follow suit or (b) stay out of the way. Ending the permanence of statutes will force lawmakers to do one or the other, i.e., refresh laws, or allow them to quietly expire.
