The country urgently needs a White House symposium to be convened on climate change. This would help focus the attention of the people, persuade more of us that this is a national and international emergency, and show the country and the world that the Administration is treating this as a clear and present danger to the US and world community. Part of the perhaps weekend-long symposium--hopefully to be carried by many TV networks--would be to give a forum for the deniers to make their claims and then to be responded to by scientists. This is urgently needed! There is no more important public policy issue today.
