Members of Congress should be required to follow the same term limits as the Presidency (i.e. 2 consecutive terms). After serving two terms, a person may skip a single term and run again, but may not serve for more than 8 consecutive years, unless no opposing candidate runs for the office. All single terms should be set at 4 years. Elections should be staggered to avoid complete disruption of the government process. For example:
1st Year: Election of President/Vice-President
2nd Year: Election of Senate
3rd Year: Election of 1/2 of House of Representatives
4th Year: Election of other 1/2 of House of Representatives.
By enacting term limits, we will help ensure fresh ideas and people are introduced into the political process.
