sponsor bill to allow all purchases of health care and insurance to be tax deductible to free us from hobby lobby ruling

Created by Z.K. on July 01, 2014

The recent hobby lobby ruling shows that employees are subject to unjust restriction of their civil liberties by their employer's religious beliefs by tying their purchase of healthcare to their employer sponsored plans via tax law.

By allowing all persons to deduct health care and insurance costs purchased independently from any employer plan, employees would be freed to choose healthcare unburdened from the moral restrictions of their employer that they may not agree with. This would also end the unfair treatment that the unemployed are subject to when they must pay health care cost with taxed earnings that the employed are able to deduct. We call on our leaders to remove the 10% income exemption for deductibility of healthcare expenses, and make all healthcare expenses fully deductible
