Article V of the Constitution provides a process for calling a Constitutional Convention if two thirds of the State Legislatures agree. The White House needs to take a leadership position to sponsor and coordinate the process to initiate an amendment to invoke term limits on both the House and Senate. It unreasonable to expect this branch of government to support limiting their own terms. The generally accepted duration for the limits are: three terms or six years for the House, and two terms or twelve years for the Senate. Most of our founding fathers supported term limits, but the provisions were dropped in the final compromised draft of the Constitution.
