Sponsor Patriot's Day, April 19th, to become a Federal Holiday replacing Columbus Day

Created by J.M. on April 19, 2013

April 19th is celebrated in Massachusetts and Maine as Patriot's Day, as the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775. The entire story of the United States of America pivots on the events of that historic day.

Please request that Congress change the list of Federal Holidays to include Patriot's Day as a national holiday, to honor and recognize the patriotic deeds and spirit that have enabled both this great nation's birth and subsequent prosperity.

In order to keep the list of Federal Holidays to it's current ten days per year, one would need to be replaced. Columbus Day is the most likely candidate, since it has the least direct connection with the history and tradition of our nation.
