The Commerce and Labor Departments should organize 10 to 20 regional job initiative meetings with the objective of identifying the regional strengths and determine how these strengths can be used to create jobs in the region. The initiative would bring together representatives from the regions Universities, labor unions, major corporations, banks, Chamber of Commerce’s, small businesses with as needed government representatives for a one week meeting.
The groups could call on any government organization that they needed for help putting their plan(s) into action. By the weeks end tangible jobs would be identified and those participating in the meeting could informally continue the process.
