Introduce legislation that will grant the Department of Education the authority to establish rules and regulations mandating school safety. The Department shall have the authority to establish standards that must be complied with by all public & non-public schools to ensure the physical safety of students, faculty and staff.
These standards shall include, but not be limited to:
Standards to control access to school buildings (including entranceways that cannot be forced as occurred in Newtown, Ct);
Mandate staffing by qualified law enforcement school resource officers at all times when students, faculty or staff are in the schools;
Other regulations as deemed fit by the Secretary of Education.
