Stabilize the US Postal Service with realistic pricing and service modifications

Created by B.H. on March 23, 2013

The Postal Service is in jeopardy of creating operating deficits because the prices have not been adjusted to a realistic level, and services that respond to the needs of the public are not being provided. We petition the White House to study and propose the US Postal Service raise prices to a level that sustains operations. While the law requires that the Postal Service may not make a profit, it does not require that it operate at a loss. We require a publicly operated delivery service. If the Postal Service ceases operations, private industry will step in and a 1st class stamp will cost as much as $2.00. Increase prices to 79 cents, or 99 cents, and consider zoned fees, providing email, same day service, and other alternatives that will make the postal service solvent and relevant.
