Stand Against Cuts to Social Security Including Chained CPI & Raising the Benefit Age

Created by M.W. on September 25, 2012

Recently 29 Democratic Senators, including the Senate Majority Leader-Harry Reid-wrote a letter to the President due to their concerns the White House plans, if Barack Obama is re-elected, to push through a Grand Bargain with the Senate Republicans and some of the conservative Democrats that would involve increasing the Social Security benefits age and instituting chained CPI. The benefit age for American workers is already the highest in the developed world & we make no exceptions for arduous occupations. Chained CPI is designed to lower COLA's which will hit current retirees and hide the real costs of living for all of us but especially seniors who are more heavily impacted by medical costs. Please answer the 29 Senators and those of us who share their concern (fear)
