More than a year ago, the BP Gulf disaster spewed millions of gallons of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico, threatening the lives and livelihoods of communities and wildlife across the Gulf. Our government has yet to take action to make the people of the Gulf whole again and to protect them from future disasters. We ask that you:
Help prevent future disasters by establishing a Gulf of Mexico Regional Citizens Advisory Council to give local, impacted communities the ability to conduct oversight of the safety and disaster response capability of the oil and gas industry.
Hold clean air and water as a human right and ensure policies that protect communities from harmful, polluting industries
Ensure that claims to the Gulf Coast Claims Facility, including health claims, be paid immediately.
