Stand In Solidarity With Poor & Middle Class Americans By Forgoing Expensive Inaugural Ceremonies for 2nd Term

Created by C.D. on November 08, 2012

Even though much of the "fun stuff" surrounding a presidential inauguration (inaugural balls, etc.) is paid for by private contributions, the cost to taxpayers for the event is still in the millions of dollars. Much of this money is spent on security for the President and other dignitaries.

In addition to taxpayer money spent on security, the lavish private spending on clothing, travel, food, beverages, decorations and more, by the "1%" of the population with a financial ability to afford such luxuries, would showcase the stark contrast between the haves and have-nots during a time of continued economic uncertainty in our country.

President Obama, stand with the poor and the struggling middle class. Limit your 2nd term inaugural celebration to a simple in-house ceremony with your family.
