The EPA is currently considering the suspension of neonicotinoids, one of the most widely used insecticides in the country, after finding that they are highly toxic to honey bees.
We ask that President Obama support the EPA by publicly standing for the suspension of these dangerous chemicals, as the EU has already done.
Bees are responsible for almost one out of every three bites of our food. President Obama, you have shown your support for bees before. The catastrophic demise of bee colonies is a frightening sign that these chemicals are not safe even in low doses. Please publicly urge your environment agency to protect us with wise and immediate action.
As Rachel Carson once said: "In nature nothing exists alone." What happens to the bees, happens to us.
