Latin is a language, thought to be dead since the collapse of the Roman empire. But it is very much so alive, and in over two thirds of the English vocabulary. I petition that schools standardize the education of Latin just as Sweden did with English: teach it from grades three and up. It helps tremendously with skills in the work world, it can help the people of the United States learn Spanish, an extremely useful language, in school if they so choose, and it is so much easier for people to understand and learn than English. If the standardization of the teaching of Latin in schools comes through, then it will benefit the people tenfold. I know so from personal experience; I have been studying Latin for a long while now.
