Standardize food expiration labeling to save consumers time and sanity.

Created by F.L. on May 07, 2014

All perishable consumer goods have an expiration date, a good by date, or a sell by date. It is the hard-to-see, hard-to-find, in disappearing blue-ink, randomly slapped somewhere on a package or a can, time-stamp. And if you fail to look for it on each and every grocery item, you will most likely end up with a cart full of produce that is about to expire, or even items that have already expired. So we spend our time and sanity, looking for this date every time we pick up an item, wasting an unbelievable amount of time. What I propose is simple: have the government tell the manufacturers to stop wasting our time and standardize the practice of expiration dates labeling. Use a bright color for the label: orange, red, yellow, green, etc. And put it in the same relative location on all items.
