We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Standardize media ratings (movies, video games, TV, etc)

Created by E.K. on November 06, 2016

There are at least three ratings systems for media: MPAA for movies, ESRB for video games and mobile apps, and TV Parental Guidelines for television. This has got to be confusing for parents who don't take the time to be well informed, since the three systems use different names for each rating (and the TV ratings have duplicate ratings specifically for kids' shows as opposed to shows meant for adults).

I propose that the three systems be unified. Since movies and TV are forms of electronic media, it would seem sensible to use the ESRB ratings, since ESRB stands for Electronic Standards Review Board.

Perhaps ratings should also be applied to other forms of media, such as news articles and websites, on an optional basis?
