Domestic tranquility seems pretty broken these days. I'm not hopeful that anything can be done in the short term so I'd like us to at least make a start toward a country safer from acts of mass violence.
Toward that end, how about we formally ban laser guns, plasma weapons, and privately held nukes? Sure, they're the stuff of science fiction and doing so would be a nerdy symbolic gesture to be sure but it would be a start and perhaps point us in the right direction.
