We The People petition the Government to create a government run/sponsored oil refinery with the intention of creating low cost oil on our own soil. This, in turn, would lower gas prices for Americans since the price of gas is so closely tied to oil supply/costs. Although it would cost tax dollars to start, the oil business is lucrative and once we have enough oil we can begin export and make that money back and more. This would also create jobs and boost the economy. We could eventually create more state run/sponsored refineries to boost the current amount of oil we have and further lower the cost of gas. We The People are not looking to put oil companies out of business, but encourage friendly competition to ensure fair gas prices for future generations.
