There are strongly held opinions and feelings about the "right to bear arms" in the Second Amendment. Many feel that regulating guns is limiting their constitutional right, and are rightly horrified at the latter. At the same time, many others feel that this "right" has led to an unhealthy proliferation of guns in society. With this in mind, here are key questions for the national conversation:
1. Is owning a firearm a natural, individual right, such as freedom of speech or religion?
2. Does the introductory clause in the Second Amendment "A well regulated Militia, being necessary for the security of a free State..." still have meaning?
3. Can the States adequately regulate firearms when the "right to bear arms" is enshrined in the Constitution?
