Governments at all levels need to focus on improving the reliability of their local power grids by burying local power lines. Many wealthy communities and new subdivisions have already done this, but in older and poorer areas, aerial power lines remain the rule. Congress should fund a continuing yearly budget line item for this until it is complete. On July 6, 2012 Rachel Maddow spent a good deal of time discussing this issue on her nightly show.
