Focus public/private sector on 1 goal:
solar-powered electrolysis of water for hydrogen fuel cells
Energy output by source (approx. Btu per lb)
sunlight - 200 (per hr per sq. ft. at 11-15% efficiency)
coal - 14,500
gasoline - 19,300
oil (#2 fuel) - 19,800
natural gas - 25,500
hydrogen - 52,000
nuclear (uranium-235) - 35,000,000,000
Problem
Combustion creates greenhouse gases
Nuclear creates radioactive wastes
The waste from fuel cells is water, but the only viable way to get hydrogen uses combustion
Improving solar isn't profitable
Solution
Fund research and/or create a prize for improving solar efficiency
Use solar to power electrolysis of water
Use hydrogen in fuel cells
Reuse waste water in electrolysis
Replace power plants, car engines, etc. with this system
Live energy independent
