Start a process to admit Puerto Rico as the 51st State

Created by P.M. on November 15, 2012

On a referandum that took place on November 6 2012 a vast majority vote of 65.1% of voters chose to adopt Statehood as the option for the political status of the Island.. The referendum explicitly asked for voters to establish whether or not they were content with the current territorial status by choosing YES or NO. The 65.1% of Puerto Ricans chose STATEHOOD thus confirming that a request for the US Congress to begin a process to convert Puerto Rico to the 51st State in the Union is wanted. We request that Congress respect the will of the majority and propose directly to the Puerto Rican people the process for inclusion of Puerto Rico as a State of the Union.
