It was never intended that by becoming an elected official or by getting some political job you would be set for life. It is time we recognize that all gov't employees work for us and WE should determine what there pay will be and vote on any raises and benefits.
When I was working similar jobs in gov't were never as far apart financially as they are today. I worked for 35 years and contributed to my retirement fund. On retirement my plan paid me 30% of my last 5 yrs annual pay. However I took advantage of IRA's and 401 plans to supplement my retirement income. I wonder if many of our voters realize how the retirement plans of gov't employees are structured.
I know we will hear this is only a small part of the spending problem but since we can't agree on big changes lets start small
