start a slow conversion to metric system to relieve our students from having to learn two systems of measurement.

Created by T.M. on September 26, 2011

US students are falling behind the world in education. Yet we still burden them with learning both the english and metric system of measurement. Add to that is the disadvantage our students have learning and working in the sciences it makes no sense to not make a slow conversion over to the metric system. I propose phasing in to metric by requiring all NEW labels to be labeled with metric as the dominant marking. After 5 years all labels would have this requirement. Beverages and Gas would be changed to metric sooner.
After 5 years schools would stop teaching the English system starting with grade 1, then each year progressing up one year so that after 12 years all students would only be learning just metric.
