Start taxing Colleges and Universities that have endowments over a specific amount.

Created by M.S. on October 29, 2011

Tax exempt Colleges and Universities should not be allowed to keep the total of their endowments tax free. After a certain threshold or amount, their holdings should be taxed. Many higher learning institutions are awash with so much cash and holdings that the entire student body could attend for free for the next 20 years. Yale and Harvard are just two. Higher learning tuition's far outpace inflation, yet these same institutions are accumulating wealth at an alarming rate. It is time that these institutions either start to lower tuition's by giving more in the way of scholarships, be taxed and / or both.
