.Statehood for the Kurds. It is an opportunity to do something truly meaningful in the Middle East.

The Kurds were not represented in 1916 when Sykes and Picot drew the artificial borders for much of the Middle East. After the first Iraq war we protected them from Saddam Hussein and they responded by creating a very successful autonomous region. Unlike the Arabs, they have waged a very successful response to the radical Islamists known as ISIS/ISI/ Daesh. Erdogan and the Turks will protest vehemently, but they have been implicated in aiding ISIS. So their protest should be ignored. The Kurds have earned our support and respect. The least we can do is support their desire foe their own state.
