I am a 44 year old mother who is significantly disabled with a neuromuscular disease known as autonomic mitochondrial myopathy. There is no cure, and our 7 yr. old daughter was the first to be diagnosed. I am in a wheel chair now, and every organ system, including our muscles are affected. I had to quit my job due to further disability. I recently applied for SSDI benefits due to my disability being life long and life ending. To qualify I need to have worked 5 out of 10 years. I had only worked 4.5 of 10 years. I earned 18 out of the 20 work credits that are required. The system does not recognized that I was working for our disabled daughter, as a stay at home mother. This Federal Mandate needs an admendment. This is discrimination! I can't be the only one. This denial is not right!
