More than ten years ago, the American people were told that there was a dictator violating the basic human rights of his people. We were told he was evil and that he needed to be stopped. We were emotionally stirred as our leaders beat the drums of war, and cheered our troops as they walked into a quagmire. Never again, we told ourselves, and yet, here we are.
As rational citizens of the United States of America, we cannot let rhetoric and emotion motivate our decisions! We must demand evidence that proves, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that the blood of our young men and women needs to be shed for the greater good.
The problems that plague Syria are complicated. Assad may be a horrible leader, but those who would replace him may be far worse.
We cannot let our nation get involved.
