The civil war in Syria must be resolved by Syrians. Any additional influence by outside parties will invalidate any result and simply lead to another war. If the US makes any attempt to choose a side in this conflict it will become the justification for further bloodshed.
We must use political, commercial and financial persuasion, as ineffective as that may feel, to encourage events in the middle east. The use of force has never accomplished our goals there in the past and the use of it now will not do so in Syria.
