Middle class citizens currently have limited options when it comes to saving. What little money we have to save it is put into a savings account or IRA. This is not the problem. The problem is that when the banks begin tightening the pool of credit, small businesses are typically the first to feel the effects. When the money dries up, it starts with small businesses.
My proposal is simple. I wish to see a new form of IRA specifically designed to allocate money to small businesses ONLY. Taxed similarly to other IRAs, these accounts would provide a larger pool of capital for SBA administrated loans. They would be less susceptible to loss from market failures as the funds would not be publicly traded.
More money and more stability means a more prosperous middle class.
