Civil Asset Forfeiture laws, designed as a tool to confiscate property, including cash from criminals is a common sense tool that works, and works well. However, taking the courts out of the equation when the practice is exercised in 'routine traffic stops', and allowing law enforceme t agencies to retain up to 80% of the cash taken, is rife for abuse.
Please protect the law obiding citizens, and stop the abuses that are violating the civil rights of the people. The right to pursue happiness, protection from illegal search and seizure. We are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Aggressive policing is violating many of our rights, and needs to stop.
