For decades, firearms legislation has targeted the firearm. Attacking firearms is a direct violation of the people's right to bear arms. Attempting to pass laws with the firearm being the focal point affects ALL persons. This puts law abiding citizens at a sincere disadvantage to protect their lives, their families' lives, and their property. Anyone wanting guns for illegal purposes will obtain them with ease.
A recommendation: Instead of assault weapons bans, high capacity magazine bans, and background checks, work on holding those who sell firearms to persons without documentation equally accountable for crimes committed with the firearm illegally sold.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people. If we attacked every object that killed someone, we'd be cutting our steaks with spoons.
