The bulk collection/surveillance of U.S. citizens' data and communications is a violation of our fourth amendment rights bestowed upon us by the U.S. Constitution.
Recently an advisory panel appointed by President Obama stated that the NSA's mass data collection program is "not essential to preventing attacks" and that useful evidence "could readily have been obtained in a timely manner using conventional [court] orders."
Furthermore, Keith Alexander has admitted in congressional testimony that the number of terrorist plots the Obama administration cites as being thwarted by the NSA's bulk data collection was significantly inflated.
The NSA's program has been determined to be ineffective, and it is a gross violation of our civil liberties. This program needs to be ended, not reformed.
