We need Fair Trade Agreements, under which we level the competitive playing field for our businesses. We place societal costs upon our businesses, things such as environmental regulation , worker safety, minimum wage and other costs. We, as a society, have deemed these measures necessary, even though costs rise.
To level the playing field and to provide incentive, we should tax products from nations to the extent that they do not have these protections in place. This will increase costs, but also increase American jobs and reduce welfare dependence. Our workers will benefit, our businesses will benefit.
